SAFRANBOLU BAZAAR (MARKET PLACE)
Uncorrupted purity even today, the virgin land, Safranbolu dated back Ottoman Period is a part of the paradise due to not only its natural beauty but also its incredible old bazaar including many various little bazaars named as Arasta side by side.
In early days, this wonderful bazaar was an important Trade Centre containing numerous workplaces which cover approximately 10-15 m2 fields. Many stores such as iron working, forging, shoemaking, saddle and copper work were found as a guild, the basic medieval manufacturing organization here. Thus, the streets of Safranbolu Bazaar are called and classified according to handwork like Shoemaker House, Saddlers House, Merchant House and Butchers House, which causes that the people can easily find all kinds of handicrafts and materials in the magnificent bazaar.
Moreover, like Istanbul’s own Arasta bazaar situated beside Blue Mosque, Safranbolu Bazaar consists of souvenir shops selling unique traditional Turkish craftworks such as metalworking, woodworking, local ,handmade native products, miniature of Ottoman houses, fascinating accessories, other splendid stuffs for tourists and more.
Additionally, it is possible to taste famous traditional foods like peruhi, blackberry syrup accompanied with Turkish coffee, delicious kuyu kebab, Turkish delight with saffron around here. Today, when you visit this glorious place, you see the other market places; these are mainly Shoemakers (Yemenicilik), Ironworking and Copper working Bazaars.

Next to the magnificent Köprülü Mehmet Pasha and consisting of 48 extraordinary, multifunctional, adjacent wooden stores, Shoemakers Bazaar (Yemenicilik in Turkish) is a part of the old guild market.
At the beginning, it was found as a foundation to fulfil the requirements of the mosque. Later, it has been used as a shoemaker’s bazaar, also called Yemenicilik due to being produced Yemeni shoes. Except for those features, surrogated by prominent Ahmet Demirezen Yemenicilik Museum, this miraculous market composes of life section which provides to penetrate the light, barn, big furnace and storehouse.
Also today, this specific structure includes conventional souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes and markets selling indigenous handcrafts materials. Therefore, ıf you want to breathe the fresh air, drinking special taste tea or coffee and seeing numerous unique productions, you should visit here.
